Qualifications

• Call to shepherd a local church
• Must satisfy the Biblical elder’s qualifications (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4)
• Must have a conservative evangelical dispensation theology background
• Must agree with CGBC’s Constitution and Bylaws
• Must be bilingual in both Cantonese and English in verbal and written (with Cantonese as the primary language)
• Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Prefer graduated from an accredited seminary
• Minimum three years experience of full-time shepherding at a local church; must have ministry experience focusing on American Chinese

• Have a passion to shepherd the congregation
• Establish strategies and have visions to lead the Cantonese Ministerial Team in terms of the Worship, Instruction, Fellowship, and Evangelism ministries; develop the leadership team.
• Be responsible for shaping (educate, demonstrate, pray) the mission and discipleship life of the congregation; provide guidance and oversee the congregation functions
• Preach and teach regularly (pulpit, Sunday school, etc); officiate sacraments (communion, baptism, funerals, weddings, etc)
• Provide counseling and spiritual guidance, visitation and caring to members; cross congregation preaching and teaching
• Undertake joint ventures with other pastors / staffs
• Self discipline in self development
